Maintaining your equipment is really important and being able to buy and repair older equipment will save you a ton of money. These are very aggressive Orbital Sanders and can be found used for $100-$120 and about $50 with a failed pad and some dirt. The pad is about $20 so for pretty cheap and quick (3 minutes) you can be in business. Here is another quick tutorial on fixing/replacing a Porter Cable 7300 series Orbital Sander Pad. This is specifically for a 7335 sander but all 7300 series pads come off the same way. This project is so fast and easy that I’ll let the 3 minute real-time video do the talking.
