Yes, this is about how to never lose a pencil again. I don’t know about you but I can put a pencil down and it disappears. POOF!! Gone!! Never to be found. I’ve lost dozen of them kind of like socks or gloves. BUT, I found a way to make sure a pencil is always close at hand.

Let me show you how I have saved hour of searching for a pencil in my shop. The idea is simple, glue a magnet to your pencil and stick it to your tools.
Here’s how. You only need a couple of tools, thick Super Glue, a fine tooth saw, a knife, and glue Accelerator. Links to these items are at the bottom.

Pick a spot near the top of the pencil and use the knife to mark its location. I use a Knife Gerber Prybrid X knife (shown) – great little piece of kit. Like a mini boxcutter with an Exacto Knife blade.
Once you have the bounds marked snag a flush cut saw – something with fine teeth. Cut the left and right marks about 1/3rd of the way through. Then make 2-4 additional cuts to help paring the wood away

Use your knife, twist and pry out the wood in the notch. Use the blade to carve the surface flat.

With the notch ready put a drop of Thick CA Glue on it and place the Magnet
A quick spray of Activator to set the CA glue and – voila! Almost instant pencil storage.

I stick these on all my machines and squares so I always have one close at hand

This is a quick little project that will really help you organize and save you literally hours of time searching for a pencil.
Thanks for reading – until next time – Good making.
