Yes, Christmas is almost here. And making your own decorations is always a lot of fun and usually cheaper.  Making these tabletop Christmas trees is super easy and you could probably knock these out in less than 20 minutes plus dry time for the paint. minutes or less. And if you have kids this is a great project to get them involved in painting and decorating these Christmas trees for the holidays.

And follow this link to my Video to see how it is done.

Tools and Materials

Materials you need for this project 6 foot piece of two by two right from the big box store. And of course a rattle can of green and one of white. You may want to get some red and blue in a small string of electric lights too especially if you’re going to have the kids help.

As far as tools all you really need is a chop saw or a hand saw and a miter box..

Layout

This is one of those projects that you just followed the sketch if you wanna make them shorter use one less and if you want to make him taller add one or two more. Project

Cutting

To make a tabletop Christmas tree all you need to do is set your miter saw at 45° measure the distance and start making your cuts. You’ll make a series of progressively smaller pieces with 40 fives at the end until you get to the top where you can change the angle If you like.

Sanding

Personally I think sandy is required for these pieces because when they come off the miter saw the corners are really sharp so I would suggest you take a piece of 220 grit sandpaper and round off all those sharp edges and corners it doesn’t take much time and it’ll make the project I think much better..

Assembly

As I said a super simple project all you’re going to do is a glue rub joint for each one of these. A rub joining is nothing more than applying some glue and rubbing the two pieces back together to ensure glue is apply it across the entire surface. For these tabletop Christmas trees you don’t even have to clamp the pieces together. Just apply the glue rub the joint and let them dry.

Finishing

Like I said these tabletop Christmas trees are super simple all you’ll use is some rattle can green. Give them one or two coats of green and then sputter on some white paint to look like snow. This can also be hand painted which is perfect for the kids if you’re using tempura paint or a acrylics. They can also paint on bulbs and you can wrap them with battery pack operated lights.

The project is done

Well I hope you followed along with this pulled out some wood and some tools and slapped this together. It’s one of those projects you can do in about 15 minutes to 20 minutes plus another 20 to 30 minutes of dry time for the finish. So you could do this on the morning of Christmas Eve and have it ready to go for your Christmas Eve dinner.

If you do make this project, congratulations on a job well done. And do me a favor and post it on my Facebook page (see link below).

Hope you got something out of this and if you did, do me a favor, hit like and subscribe. I’d appreciate that a lot.

Thanks for reading and until next time Good Making!
